Hans Karlsson Standards Awards
Call for Award Nominations
Deadline: 1 October 2025 - 11:59 PM EDT
Although diplomacy and a dedication to collaboration should be standard in our lives, where it isn’t, we should reward its presence. Hans Karlsson, the "father" of the IEEE 1301 family of standards, had a sensitive, people-oriented approach to management which enabled him to achieve consensus on the 1301 standards in record time, and IEEE created this award in his honor–so show your appreciation to someone whose people skills enabled the development of standards by nominating them for this award.
A plaque and US$2,000 honorarium are presented in recognition of outstanding skills and dedication to diplomacy, team facilitation, and joint achievement in the development or promotion of standards in the computer industry where individual aspirations, corporate competition, and organizational rivalry could otherwise be counter to the benefit of the society.
